With a rich heritage spanning decades, the Ford Bronco is one of the most iconic nameplates coming in from the USA. The off-roader from Ford is available in multiple iterations in its home market. However, the UAE car market gets the Ford Bronco in four different iterations – Big Bend, Outer Banks, Wildtrak and Badlands, each of which has its own characteristic identity. The colour options offered in the Bronco are Area 51, Cactus Grey, Azure Grey, Iconic Silver, Oxford White, Race Red, Shadow Black, Velocity Blue, Eruption Green, Hod Pepper Red and Carbonized Grey.

Interior

While the exterior of the Ford Bronco evokes a strong sense of nostalgia, the same cannot be said about the cabin of the off-roader, as it has adapted to the latest trends and screens which younger generation people fancy in their new vehicles. With an up-to-date cabin having all the modern features and tech, the Ford Bronco is a good and spacious vehicle for five passengers.

The features which make the Ford Bronco feel trendy from the inside are a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a six-speaker audio system, an 8-inch full-TFT instrument console and a wireless charger. Everything in the Bronco feels robust, giving it a built-to-last feel. Other features which make the Bronco feel desirable are leather upholstery, powered front seats, tilt and telescopic adjustable multi-functional steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control and an array of USB chargers.

Exterior

All four versions of the Ford Bronco on sale in the UAE car market have individualistic identities, but the things common to all are the sense of ruggedness and old-school flavour. The Bronco looks tough and bold from whichever angle you look at, and thanks to the straight lines and upright stance, it looks like a traditional SUV which many people have a lot of liking.

At the front, all the versions of Bronco come with rounded LED headlamps and strips of daytime running LEDs stretching towards the Bronco lettering spread over the grille in the middle. The front fascia in all four versions of the Bronco looks different, with the mesh design for the grille in Wildtrak and Badlands looking similar. All the versions also get off-road spec front and rear bumpers for the go-anywhere popularity.

All the versions of the Ford Bronco are available as four-door SUVs as standard, though the Big Bend and Wildtrak get two-door versions too. The upright stance, with a straight bonnet line and high ground clearance, makes the Bronco look purposeful. The Bronco also gets carbonized grey moulded roof and 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels (18 inches in Outer Banks) with chunky-looking off-road terrain tyres. The Wildtrak and Badlands variants also get mud-terrain tyres for better off-road driving.

At the rear, the Ford Bronco has a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, while having vertically-laid LED tail lamps on the corners (Big Bend gets halogen tail lamps). The Bronco comes with steel bash plates in Widltrak and Badlands variants for an added sense of protection for crucial parts of the vehicle.

Ride & Handling

The Big Bend and Outer Banks versions of Ford Bronco are offered with part-time selectable four-wheel drive, while the Wildtrak and Badlands versions have a more advanced automatic on-demand four-wheel drive system for better capabilities while driving off the roads. The Bronco also comes with six standard drive modes – normal, eco, sport, slippery, mud/ruts and sand, though Wildtrak and Badlands also get a Baja mode for full-blown hooliganism on tougher terrains.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

The base-spec Big Bend version of the Ford Bronco comes with a 2.3-litre four-cylinder Ecoboost petrol engine, which produces 275 bhp of power and 420 Nm of torque. The rest of the lineup of Ford Bronco has a 2.7-litre V6 Ecoboost petrol engine as standard, which produces 330 bhp of power and 542 Nm of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are offered as standard in all four versions of Ford Bronco.

Braking & Safety

The expansive list of safety features offered in the Ford Bronco as standard are front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, roll stability control, electronic traction control and terrain management system. The off-roader also comes with a host of ADAS features like Auto High-Beam Headlamps, Hill Start Assist, Post-Collison Braking, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Dynamic Brake Support, BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) With Cross-Traffic Alert And Lane-Keeping System (Lane-Keeping Alert, Lane-Keeping Aid & Driver Alert).

Verdict

The Ford Bronco is a vehicle truly made for off-road driving enthusiasts and those who like the nostalgia associated with the nameplate. While there are more comfortable and plusher SUVs than the Bronco at this price point, very few SUVs match the extrovert character and desirability of the Bronco.

The Adventure Machine

I recently got the Ford Bronco, and honestly, it feels made for UAE adventures. The rugged design already gives it a cool vibe, but when I take it out for desert drives, it shows its true strength. The off-road settings, big tires, and strong engine make dune bashing super fun. For everyday city use, it’s a bit boxy in parking, but still manageable with the sensors. The interior is practical, with washable surfaces, which is great because sometimes we get sand everywhere. It’s definitely not a family hauler like a Land Cruiser, but more of a fun car. For me, it’s about mixing lifestyle with driving pleasure, and the Bronco makes every weekend feel like a small adventure.

Excellent looking Off-roader

Not a typical everyday car, but I am really fascinated by the Bronco. I think it is a blend of regular SUVs with the top-top which is quite exciting. While it is a practical SUV, it has got the all-terrain abilities and a very quintessential look. And, what Ford has done with the latest facelift, the Bronco has become even more good looking and appealing. I have been driving Ford Bronco for the past few months and I'm so impressed with it. The Bronco has Goes Over Any Type of Terrain (G.O.A.T.) Modes, which let drivers choose between Sport, Eco, Slippery, Rock Crawl, and Mud/Ruts. The removable doors and roof create an open-air experience, while the strong engine provides plenty of horsepower for steep inclines and difficult terrain. The inside is well-equipped with technological features, and the ride is smooth both on and off road. The Bronco boasts steel bash plate protection, the HOSS System with multiple packages for varying off-road intensities, and electronic front and rear locking differentials for increased off-road performance.

Massive capability, great looks

I have put approximately 1,000 miles on my Ford Bronco, and I must say it has performed quite well. I recently went on a long drive on this car and was surprised by the comfort it offered throughout the trip. Its power delivery is also excellent, and it offers an average mileage of around 19 mpg. The rugged and distinctive appearance of Bronco turns heads wherever I go. I have received tons of compliments on its features and design. The only downside is the wind noise that permeates the cabin.

We recently got our hands on the Ford Bronco Badlands after reserving it as soon as it was announced. The Ford Bronco Badlands exceeds expectations and outperforms the Jeep in every way. The front and back seats are more comfortable with proper spacing, making long drives more enjoyable. The suspension and ride quality is superior, and the vehicle doesn't experience wobble on highways. The base model tech and audio are better than what the Jeep offers, and the upgraded tech is even better. The 4-cylinder engine is quick and responsive. Investing in the upgraded stereo is recommended for an even better experience.
